Legal Statement: Wave of Arrests Targeting Ahwazi Arab Sunni Citizens in Abadan and Mashoor

The Alahwazi Organization for Human Rights (A.O.H.R) expresses grave concern over the arbitrary arrest of several Ahwazi Arab Sunni citizens by Ministry of Intelligence agents at dawn on July 23 in the cities of Abadan and Mashoor, transferring them to undisclosed locations.
The identities of two detainees (residents of Mashoor arrested in Abadan) have been confirmed:
* Abdulhamid Simari (Abu Abdussalam)
* Hatam Mansouri
This crackdown comes amid an escalating campaign of intelligence pressures, arbitrary summons, and systemic restrictions targeting the Ahwazi Arab Sunni community across various cities in Ahwaz.
Violated International Legal Standards:
* International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR):
* Article 18 (1): Protection of freedom of thought, conscience, and religion, including the right to manifest one's religion or belief.
* Article 9 (1 & 2): Absolute prohibition of arbitrary arrest and the requirement to inform detainees immediately of any charges.
* Article 14 (3): Right to adequate time, facilities, and legal counsel for defense.
* International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance:
* Articles 1 & 2: Prohibition of enforced disappearance and withholding the location of detainees.
A.O.H.R demands the immediate revelation of the detainees' whereabouts and their unconditional release.
