The Ahwazi Organization for Human Rights (A.O.H.R) — Intelligence elements of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted a cultural gathering at the home of a local citizen in the city of Al-Shawwur (Beit Reshak), located in the Al-Karkheh district (15 km from the city of Shush), at precisely 1:30 AM on the dawn of Thursday, October 29, 2026.
According to reliable reports received by the organization, the arrests were conducted without judicial warrants and were accompanied by direct physical assaults on the attendees and their family members, intimidation, and the confiscation of their mobile phones. The list of detainees includes the poet and cultural activist:
Jawad Al-Kinani (27 years old), along with: Hussain Al-Nawasri (20 years old), Ali Al-Kinani (Doushi) son of Kamel (25 years old), Ali Al-Shuwaihi (Al-Kuthair) son of Shaiboun, Amin Al-Shuwaihi (20 years old), and Reda Al-Kinani Al-Muhsini son of Yabar. All of them were taken to an unknown location.
The organization notes that this campaign comes as a continuation of a series of systematic violations and restrictions that targeted activists Abbas Al-Tamimi and Hamid Al-Ghazlawi a few days ago in the Al-Malakiya (Malashieh) neighborhood in the capital city of Ahwaz. This reflects an unjust and systematic security policy aimed at suppressing any gathering or cultural and religious activity by the Sunni community in the region.
The Ahwazi Organization for Human Rights (A.O.H.R.) holds the Iranian authorities and IRGC Intelligence fully responsible for the physical and psychological safety of all detainees. It demands their immediate and unconditional release and an end to the practices of enforced disappearance and nighttime raids, while calling on international human rights bodies and institutions to urgently intervene to press Tehran to halt these direct violations.
