The Alahwazi Organization for Human Rights (A.O.H.R) has issued a statement regarding the wide-scale wave of arrests carried out by Iranian security forces in the city of Bab Hani (Behbahan), which affected 89 Ahwazi citizens. The authorities accused them of possessing weapons.
According to information received by the organization, this charge — weapons possession — is one of the ready-made, recurring accusations that Iranian authorities systematically and repeatedly bring against Ahwazi citizens, often without being based on real evidence or concrete facts, but rather used as a legal pretext to justify campaigns of repression and mass arrest.
The organization affirms that the true goal behind this campaign is to instill fear and terror among Ahwazi citizens and to intimidate the public at large, preventing people from expressing their views or taking part in any protest movement against government policies.
As of now, there is insufficient detail available regarding the identities of those detained or where they were taken after arrest, though the Iranian authorities themselves have officially acknowledged carrying out the arrest operation and the number of detainees, 89 citizens.
The Alahwazi Organization for Human Rights condemns these repressive practices and calls for the immediate release of all detainees, disclosure of their whereabouts, and an end to the policy of fabricated charges used as a tool to intimidate the Ahwazi people and silence any dissenting voice.
