According to reports received by The Alahwazi Organization for Human Rights (A.O.H.R), the Ahwaz Revolutionary Court (Kianpars district) has sentenced nine Ahwazi Arab women to a total of 45 years in prison (5 years each). The judge offered to reduce their sentence to one year on the condition that they complete a mandatory one-year “ideological and political re-education” course.
These unjust rulings follow their arrest over a year and a half ago for social media activity. Reliable sources confirm that their sole interaction was participating in a WhatsApp group discussing everyday matters. During their initial detention by intelligence forces, they were subjected to severe physical and psychological coercion.
Mandatory Ideological Courses: These forced indoctrination sessions are conducted at the IRGC Intelligence-affiliated “Jafar al-Sadiq” Institute on 24-Meter Street in Ahwaz, functioning as a systematic tool for ideological coercion and intimidation.
Names of the Sentenced Women:
-
Saeeda Heidari Rad | 2. Amal Dahimawi | 3. Kowsar Asakereh | 4. Ayat Mohammadi | 5. Fatima Sawari | 6. Khadijah Hawali | 7. Eftekhar Rostamizadeh | 8. Sayyida Fatima Hosseini | 9. Amneh Beyt Sayyah.
Legal Assessment: The Alahwazi Organization for Human Rights (A.O.H.R) emphasizes that these fabricated charges (“membership in groups,” “propaganda against the state”) constitute a blatant violation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR, Articles 9, 18, and 19) and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights regarding freedom of expression, arbitrary detention, and mental coercion.
